You probably know that Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) is being phased out by now. In 2019 the FCC initiated the phase-out of copper POTS lines due to their various disadvantages and challenges.

How should we replace POTS?

When we are converting POTS line to the next generation VoIP communication technology, we need to consider the following aspects.

-Firstly, we need to solve the network communication problems for VoIP, such as congestion, lag and network failure.
-Secondary, we need to deal with the power outage circumstances with power backup.
-Third is the compatibility issue of protocol. Flyingvoice is very familiar with the POTS replacement, which is why we can provide you a more reasonable solution.

To better support different requirement, we have two product forms to choose from. The first type is POTS Box, and the other type is All-in-One device. The former one includes three independently developed and quality approved products by Flyingvoice in this box. They are LM150 industrial LTE router, PR08 ATA gateway and specified power bank.

This approach provides flexible choices for different application scenarios. For example, LM150 router can be paired with Flyingvoice's PR08 ATA gateway. This router can be powered through POE, you won't need another power cable and it can also be powered by PR08 when power outage occurs. Supports Dual SIM failover, allowing for quick switching to another cellular network in case of network interruption. Of course, you can also select a third-party router, as long as you provide a reliable network connection to PR08, it can be perfectly compatible with our solution.

PR08 is the ATA gateway, which is the core device in our solution. In order to be compatible with different applications, we have developed multiple application protocols, such as Contact ID, modem V.150.1, as well as T.38 and T.37 fax protocols. In another word, the ordinary ATA from other manufacturers may not meet the complete data communication needs of POTS replacement

In terms of hardware design of PR08, there are two Type-C ports that support 65W PD power bank. Once encountering power outage circumstances, PR08 can be seamlessly switch power source to the power bank. Saving a bundle when compared to implementing individual UPS. We recommend one or two 65W power bank, which can be extended to 24 hours power backup.

Therefore, in Flyingvoice POTS Box solution, it reflects a flexibility and diversity. Flyingvoice will also launch All-in-One device such as the coming PR18 ATA gateway with LTE. This product integrates all the functions of POTS Box, including internal battery, LTE access, ATA gateway functions, etc. It fully supports POTS replacement in a compact device. Compared to the BOX solution, in addition to the advantage of small size, our All-in-One device can better manage batteries and LTE links, reflecting faster failure switching capabilities. It is a highly competitive product on the market
